From the President:

February 5, 2005.

Dear Members and Friends,

Happy Ground Hog's Day! Happy Valentine's Day! What with the major holidays behind us and nearly 300 days until the next major holidays, we are free to think about some other things. Where is IWVC going? Where would you like to see us go? These are very important questions. I, for one, would like to see us put on an education day for the area. Not only would it benefit the association, but the insurance industry in general in Ventura County. Let's think about this and get moving, okay?

Do you have an idea you'd like to bring to the table? No idea is wrong, remember that. Since NAIW's main thrust this year is education, lets jump on the band wagon and show NAIW that little old IWVC is still alive and strong.

Please think about these issues and talk to the Board so that IWVC truly represents all it's members.

See attached notice for the details on the February program and let's ALL plan on attending.

We will again be collecting gently used career clothing to pass along, also. Women helping women is the byword of the day!

Glenwood Care Center states that the residents are indeed enjoying the three DVD-VCR units we purchased for them for Christmas. They say that IWVC is truly their "Santa Claus". Thank you, Members, from the Glenwood Care Center.

I am looking forward to seeing you at the February meeting. Until then, I am...

Yours in fellowship,
Ruth Uridel, CPIW.

A blonde calls...

A blonde calls her boyfriend and says, "Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure out how to get it started." Her boyfriend asks, "What is it supposed to be when it's finished?" The blonde says, "According to the picture on the box, it's a tiger." Her boyfriend decides to go over and help with the puzzle! She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table. He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says, "First of all, no matter what we do, we're not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a tiger." He takes her hand and says, "Second, I want you to relax. Let's have a nice cup of tea, and then.....", he sighed,......................................... "let's put all these Frosted Flakes back in the box."

March 18, 2005 - Friday Night Welcome Party "Country School House":
Dust off your country duds and come on by for some lip smackin' food, eye-catching décor, toe tapping tunes, heartfelt hugs, and finger snapping entertainment. Wear your overalls, jeans, gingham and plaid, and come on down to our Country School House party.

March 19, 2005 - Saturday Presidents' Luncheon "Live...Love...Learn":
Come "Live...Love...Learn" and laugh as we honor the dedicated presidents of our local associations! Enjoy good food and good fun with entertainment by the "Instant Song Maker," Gerry Robinson. You have never seen anything like him! Celebrate our good fortune by acknowledging less fortunate children in our community with the donation of a cherished new children's book. The book donation is a wonderful way to help support NAIW's Community Focus - Partners in Literacy.

March 19, 2005 - Saturday Night Awards Banquet "A Touch of Class":
The grand finale of the Conference is the Awards Banquet. This semi-formal banquet will definitely be "A Touch of Class". This is the night to honor all of the past Directors and Regional Vice Presidents of Region VIII, as well as the individuals and associations who will be recognized for their special achievement awards. It promises to be a very elegant evening and you will leave the Conference having felt "A Touch of Class".

Keynote Speaker - Kate Adamson, Author of Kate's Journey; Triumph over Adversity:
Kate survived one-in-a-million odds to enjoy the success she has today. For every challenge we face, Kate's story teaches us how to meet those challenges with grace and valor. The lessons she learned are a model for anyone who feels their goals and dreams are sometimes just out of reach. Kate's story connects the fragility of life with the power of the human spirit and moves people to action.
