From the President:

October 3, 2004.

Dear Members and Friends,

Greetings and Happy Halloween! Another season is opening up to us again. It seems very hard to believe that THE holidays are almost upon us again.

At least, one group of wonderful hard working ladies is glad September is over - the members of IPSB. Yes, the State Meeting is over and it was wonderful yet again. Great friendships renewed, great friendships started, and lasting memories all around. Our new State Director-Elect is Eddie Wills of Insurance Women of North San Diego (late of IWLA); Robin Fawkes is the new Public Relations Chair; Sandra "Sandy" Mottard is our new Membership Development Chair; with the delegate to Regional Nominating Convention as Marie Haworth, and Jolene Gilbert as alternate. The nominating committee had a long, hard night of work to bring you these officers and we thank them. Glenn McIntyre (yes, our very own Glenn) presented a wonderful keynote speach on Saturday. The party on Saturday night, along with the auction, was well attended. The auction raised a large amount of money for the State fund. Our offering, "Life's a Beach", went for $225.00! Thank you for allowing me to represent you once again!

Please try to attend our next meeting as we have a speaker from the League of Women Voters coming to inform us on the local and national issues. (See bulletin for details.)

If you missed our last meeting, and many did, we had a great speaker on organizing our homes, offices and lives. Perhaps we can entice her back one day.

Remember, in November we are meeting on Saturday November 6th to welcome our State Director, Michelle Epstein, AAI, AIS, ACSR, CISR, CPIW, to a joint meeting with several of our sister associations. This is an important meeting and we are the first association to help Michelle meet with the local associations, so please plan on being there and supporting this. More on this will be published soon.

If you need to contact me, call 302-3238. Looking forward to seeing you all on October 12th! Once again, please join us on September 14th and bring your questions, comments and pleas with you.

Yours in fellowship,
Ruth Uridel, CPIW.

Insurance Woman's Dream.

Last night as I lay sleeping
I died or so it seemed,
Then I went to Heaven,
But only in my dream.

Up there, St Peter met me
Standing at the pearly gates.
He said "I must check your record.
Please stand here and wait."

He turned and said "Your record
Is covered with terrible flaws,
On earth I see you rallied
For every losing cause.

I see that you drank alcohol
And smoked and used drugs too.
Fact is, you've done everything
A good person should never do.

We can't have people like you up here.
Your life was full of sin."
Then he read the last of my record,
Took my hand and said "Come in."

He led me up to the Big Boss and said
"Take her in and treat her well,
She used to work in Insurance.
She's done her time in Hell."

Household Hints.

Non stick cooking spray - Going on a long trip? Spray the grille of your car before going and when you get home, just hose off the bugs.
Pantyhose - Tie an old pair in knots, throw in the dryer and it'll collect lint off the clothes.
Ketchup - Takes tarnish off copper.
Vodka - Removes mold and mildew from the caulking in your shower and gets rid of residue at the bottom of flower vases.
