From the President:

August 28, 2004.

Dear Members and Friends,

Is it September already? Didn't the kids (grandkids, that is) just get out of school? Where, oh, where did the summer go? Vacations are over (or did we just forget to take them, too) and the holidays are just around the corner.

With that thought in mind, our September meeting should be helpful to one and all. "Get Organized" will help us get an early handle on the upcoming holiday crunch. So, get prepared to be inspired and come join us on September 14th for this most fun meeting.

Also, with September, comes our annual State Meeting. It's right around the corner in Santa Barbara, so let's support our sister up the coast by attending this meeting. We will be helping out by supplying the guest speaker, Glenn McIntyre and his lovely family with hostess gifts in their suite to complete their stay in Santa Barbara. If you have any donations to their "goodie bags", please contact me soon.

This looks to be a very busy year for IWVC. We are going to sponsor a meeting for our new State Director, Michelle Epstein, AAI, AIS, ACSR, CISR, CPIW, in November. We are also shooting for an educational Saturday in late January or early February - open to the entire industry - on Flood education. We will need each and every one of you to help out for these special meetings. More on them at future meetings! Stay tuned.

Once again, please join us on September 14th and bring your questions, comments and pleas with you.

Yours in fellowship,
Ruth Uridel, CPIW.

Notice of Adjusted Meeting Prices:

In an effort to avoid discouraging members from attending the General Meetings due to the increased cost of the meals, we are initiating the following: IWVC will offer a Special Menu based on the Marriott evening menu we have enjoyed in the past. The prices reflected will be the actual price charged by Marriott for food and beverage plus the required gratuity of 18%. Members may select their meals and beverages and pay a fair price for their order. Therefore, if a member chooses to have just a bowl of soup, she will pay only the price the hotel will charge the association for her meal. If a member chooses a higher priced meal plus beverage and desert, she will, also, pay the price the association will be charged by the hotel for her order.

We had increased our former flat price due to the fact that the association had been going in the hole for payment of the meals at the general meetings. Unfortunately, the flat price unfairly penalizes those who do not purchase expensive meals or more expensive beverages. Some members simply could not afford the increased cost, and other "light eaters" felt the price was not fair. We hope that by giving our members a choice to purchase meals that will be less expensive, it will encourage members and guests to attend and enjoy our meetings.
